Persuasive Essay
Persuasive Essay Assistance
As the word persuasion means convincing your audience, the persuasive essay needs to be the starting point of your career, which requires carrying others with you. Therefore, from the first sentence until the last word, your essay should be in support of your theory or thesis on a certain issue or topic.
• Collect research based data
Select a topic that interests you and which you have been debating within your academic community for quite some time now. Thorough research is required before you make your own opinion on the subject.
Once the topic is selected, mentally go through all the data collected to filter the facts from fiction, so that only relevant supporting information remains. You now need to connect the facts and data collected with your point of contention on the topic.
• Start with the topic sentence
The topic chosen by you will remain with the persuasive essay, all along. Therefore, be careful to mention the topic sentence in the way you want it to be presented. The facts can be different. There may be other viewpoints on the chosen subject, which will arise while you try to argue your own viewpoint in the essay. Therefore, you need to be prepared to counter such resistance, effectively. However, the essay will contain only your opinion on the issue and you have to be arguementive to support that.
• Quote data while citing references
In an introductory page or paragraph, you need to give at least three to four reasons to support your chosen opinion. The data collected can be used here in the form of cited references. However, the presentation of the points in support of your thesis should be such that the reader, and the audience at large, is absorbed in the arguments given by you. That should prompt the reader to go through the explanatory paragraphs of the reasons given.
• Use statistics liberally in the essay main body
As in the case of argumentive essays, MBA essays, or other academic essays, the need is to highlight your point of contention and take your audience with you. The admission and other selection officers seek your personality traits to know about your convincing power. Hence, your essay should aim at convincing the selectors, first.
Therefore, support your thesis with as much statistics and facts as possible, to convince the reader that there are many others who have similar views on the topic. However, all figures and data should be authentic, taken from reliable and valuable academic sources.
While giving specific examples, make sure that the smooth flow of information and argument analysis is maintained, as you transit from one paragraph to another.
• Conclusion
This part of the persuasive essay is to polish the reasons given in the main body of the essay so that the reader is fully convinced about your viewpoint only.
Make sure that there are no personal examples, except the facts given in the essay.
